If music be the food of love, don't stop

Most songs are centred around love, right?
Why?
I mean, is it because it is universal and something everyone dreams of? Is it because it's easy to string a sentence together about it? Or is it because there's little else to sing about? It's not like you can sing about that volcano that erupted last year because for one thing, the name's too long (Eyjafjallajökull) and secondly, what would you say:

A volcano erupted
We were away
We couldn't get back
From our holiday.
Hooray!

It doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Up where we belong from An officer and A Gentleman, or other love songs.

So maybe that's it. There isn't really much else to sing about that everyone can relate to, and that doesn't sound totally, 100% crazy. It does make for some awesome songs though, it'll give it that!
