This is my all time favourite Queen song (with the exception maybe of We will Rock you or We are the Champions sung on a school bus at the top of our voices). I love the original obviously but the We Will Rock You version beats it by a milimetre because of the opening with the characters naming famous rock singers who died young ending, with "Freddie..." , which gets me every time!
My point is without We Will Rock You I would never have heard the song and no doubt it would have become one of those songs that are on a Forgotten Songs of the 90s which a couple of people buy and then listen to once and otherwise just sit there, like old leaves blowing in the wind, no one to ever care about them again.
So basically we need to do more musicals with old rock songs so that teens in 2080 still know Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns n' Roses, With or without you by U2, Don't you want me? by Human League, every single Sprinsteen song ever written, and all those other classics that I know three quarters of my year group at least have never heard of. So lets get writing! I'm sure someone out there can come up with something that rocks!
Oh and by the way, Glee doesn't count as a musical or as helping us remember these old artists but rather wishing we had never heard their modern version. Ever.

Top 10 Driving Songs
Obviously I don't mean when I'm driving (I'm 15 by the way) but when my mum's driving and we're listening to whatever music is on!
10. Kids by MGMT - ok so after the first couple of minutes, the lyrics seem to go exactly the same and I get bored but the tune and the opening are so awesome I just listen to the start again and again and again until my mum insists we change the song. It's a great, upbeat tune and you'll be humming the opening literally at THE MOST random points of the day (like when you're in a queue at the supermarket!).
9. Just Can't Get Enough by The Saturdays - this song is played so often on the radio that i think every teenager in the UK at least has to know it. The perfect song to play when zooming down a road in a convertible (I wish).
8. Ruby by Kaiser Chiefs - I remember this song coming out and my mum singing it constantly which seriously embarrassed me at the time but now I think she's actually pretty cool! Whenever this song comes on, the two us sing with the volume on full, so to me it's a great song to zoom down the motorway on.
7. So What by P!nk - fab, girly-rock song! THE song I sing with my best friends at school or on the bus! Upbeat and unusually uplifting!
6. The Theme to St. Trinians by Girls Aloud - this film came out over 3 years ago (wow, that makes me feel old!) and if you haven't seen it, is it one of the funniest, feel-good films I have ever seen! This song is one of those that you can scream from the rooftops and not die of embassment because everyone else joins in with you!
5. Sherry Darling by Bruce Springsteen - my parents used to play Springsteen constantly when I was younger (or at least in my memories they did) and I love driving along singing his music. I like his modern slow stuff but I think it's his older stuff which is perfect for a long car journey in summer, especially the awesome chorus of this song!
4. Shut up and Drive by Rihanna - just great girly pop. Something to dance to that keeps you going!
3. Sit Down by James - this is a fairly old song (well, 1989 so not that old but it's older than me) but I love it! It's one of those songs that you can almost instantaneously pick up the chorus of and then sing along to all the time. The perfect song for a road trip!
2. There She Goes by The La's - ok, god knows how many times I have put this song down but it really does fit most categories. Whenever it's a sunny day though and I'm driving along a country road and this song comes on, it just finishes the scene off perfectly, so that it's practically a movie moment!
1. Headlong by Queen - awesomely, increibly fantabulous rock song... what more can I say! The We Will Rock You version is also incredibly awesome!
